Steve Athey

Steve Athey

Principal, Leadership Circle

Steve Athey is a global consultant focused on evolving conscious leadership. He also serves as one of Leadership Circle's top principals. With a deep curiosity about life and belief in human potential, Steve specializes in helping executives and teams reach their full potential. A master coach, he helps clients grow in consciousness and capability, maximizing their impact and experience of leadership.

Steve began his career as a biologist and commercial whitewater guide, then worked as a psychotherapist before focusing on leadership development. Over the past 30 years, he has helped executive teams achieve profound shifts in both consciousness and performance. His work includes high-performance team building, culture-shifting simulations, and adult development. His latest focus is on self-authorship and integrating narrative approaches to identity and leadership. 

Steve has advised leaders in numerous organizations, including McDonald's, Kaiser Permanente, American Express, the U.S. Navy, and more. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in social work from the University of Utah. Outside of work, Steve enjoys river running, skiing, and cycling, and lives in Colorado with his wife, Patti.
